Taylorcocks rebrands as TC Group
Accountancy firm Taylorcocks has rebranded as TC Group in a bid to modernise the group's image and has set up three specialist departments covering financial planning, legal and HR support
8 Apr 2019
The rebranding sees the firm drop the Taylorcocks name after over 30 years and adopt the name TC Group, launch new corporate identity and logo, and overhaul the firm’s website. This follows two major acquisitions and a significant hike in fee income over the last two years.
The ambitious expansion plan saw the firm move up the rankings in the latest Accountancy Top 75 Firms 2019 to 57th place from 70th, marking a 56% hike in fee income to £13m up from £8.2m in financial year 2017-18. At the same time the number of partners and staff numbers nearly doubled from 10 to 18 partners, with a hike in staff from 97 to 197.
The rebrand is part of an initiative to update and modernise the image of the accounting firm and grow the client base. A spokesperson at TC Group told Accountancy Daily: ‘There is an increasingly strong demand for hard advisory services. Our rebrand enables us to answer this client need and focus more on services, rather than echoing an older ownership structure.’
Recent mergers and acquisitions include charity and independent education accounting specialist Russell New and Keynsham-based accountants Eden Wood in 2018, and Guildford based tax specialist Daymar in late 2017.
It is also marks a move towards the creation of a full service professional firm with the establishment of new financial planning, legal and HR departments, which will support TC’s range of accounting and taxation services.
TC’s managing partner, Richard Keyes, said: ‘The launch of these new services coincides with a major rebrand which is designed to facilitate and support our continued growth into one of the UK’s leading firms.
‘Clients trust their accountants who often play a very central role in their business growth and development. It is therefore logical that they will welcome the provision of such a range of complementary support services covering financial planning, legal and HR.’
The specialist departments are headed up by three senior hires, who joined the firm in November 2018 and have specific expertise in the three core areas: Simon Perkins, James Allen and Wendy McGarvey.
The financial planning team will be headed up by Simon Perkins, who joins the firm from wealth management specialists, Fidelius Group where he was a chartered financial planner. He previously spent 13 years with Lloyds Banking Group, providing advice to commercial banking clients while also gaining experience with the high net worth, private banking sector.
The legal team will be fronted by head of legal and in-house counsel, James Allen, who has spent 17 years working as a company commercial lawyer, specialising in the buying and selling of businesses and other transactional work, most recently as an associate at Moore Blatch LLP. At TC he will provide a range of advice covering business acquisitions and disposals, shareholder agreements for start-ups and joint ventures, group restructuring, commercial agreements and secured lending.
Head of HR Wendy McGarvey has over 25 years’ experience working in senior positions with corporates and SMEs, most recently as senior HR consultant at Emphasis HR & Training. She has wide ranging industry knowledge both at operational and strategic levels. Her department will offer HR support covering recruitment and employee management.
TC Group was set up in 1982 and has 11 UK offices in London, Croydon, Henley, Oxford, Farnham, Portsmouth, Brighton, Southampton, Bournemouth, the East Midlands and Bristol. It also has a strong international capability and provides advice and support on cross-border taxation and support to UK businesses developing overseas as well as to foreign businesses entering the UK market.
