Personal File - Directors get the jitters

Over 80% of company directors in the UK find public speaking the most nerve-racking activity they have to undertake, according to research by Consultancy firm Aziz Corporation.

More than half of directors surveyed (58%) consider addressing a large conference audience more difficult than reviewing financial data (35%) and preparing business plans (33%).

For those who considered other business tasks more daunting, the majority identified dealing with redundancy and disciplinary issues as the most challenging aspect of their jobs.

Ironically, the directors felt that good communication and presentation skills were the most important attributes for a successful career, and yet they find them the most difficult.
