People in the news: UHY Hacker Young, Haines Watts, Crowe

In this week’s accountancy career moves, partner promotions at UHY Hacker Young, Crowe, EY and Haines Watts, directors named at Foxley Kingham and Quantuma, plus nine director promotions at RSM

UHY Hacker Young has promoted James Astley and Jessica Moorghen to partner. Astley was promoted from director and joined the firm back in 2011, while Moorghen was promoted from audit director, she joined the firm in 2013.

Crowe has appointed Peter Gilligan as audit partner. He has previously worked at HW Fisher as an audit senior.

Haines Watts has made two senior appointments with Lee Meredith as associate partner and Sarah Hughes as head of VAT. Meredith joined from Azets where he was a senior manager. Hughes was previously at PKF Cooper Parry as a VAT senior manager.

Chris Romans has joined EY in the Midlands as a private partner to lead EY Private in the region. Prior to joining EY, Romans was a private business adviser and temporary social entrepreneur at Friends, Romans, Countrymen.

Chartered Accountants, Foxley Kingham has appointed Crystal Boston as a director. Boston joined the firm in 2008 and has been promoted from her role as senior manager to join the board of directors.

RSM has made nine promotions to director level at various locations throughout the UK. Andrie Kazamias, Sarah Hall and Amy Burton, all from the corporate tax team, have become directors, along with Chris Gore from the firm’s employer services group and Matt Cowie and Steven Radcliffe of the corporate finance team. Jack Deal from accounting and business advisory, Tom Bouch from global compliance and reporting services, and Laura Brownlee from consulting economics have also all achieved directorships.

Quantuma has appointed John MacLean as director in its Glasgow team. MacLean previously worked at RSM as a director.

WPP has appointed Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang to its board as a non-executive director with effect from 1 January 2021. Zhang is currently president of Baidu Inc, a Chinese technology company.

Bas Kundu recently returned to Simmons Gainsford as head of real estate and transactional tax services after previously working for the company in from 2014-2018. Kundu is also managing director of AuHg Consulting.
