In this week’s accountancy career moves, partner promotions at EY, KPMG, Pinsent Masons, plus HW Fisher, Greaves West & Ayre, Bauer Media Audio

EY has appointed Anna Delvecchio as a partner in its expanding government and infrastructure consultancy practice in the UK. She joins the transport team and will work across EY projects with central government, local authorities and private sector clients, using her experience to advise on large-scale transport development and transformation delivery projects. Delvecchio has over 25 years’ experience in the transport sector. Prior to joining EY, she was a founding member of the Highways Sector Council (HSC), a not-for-profit organisation established to drive collaboration between industry and government, using the latest technologies to transform UK highways.

KPMG has promoted Gill Hopwood-Bell, Joe Manning, Lizzie Meadowcroft, Roger Nixon, and Phil Roper to partner at the Manchester office. Hopwood-Bell has been named as an audit partner and has 17 years’ experience working with listed and privately held companies, with particular expertise in retail audits. Nixon has also become an audit partner, specialising in listed and regulated audits. Meadowcroft becomes partner in the deal advisory strategy group while Manning will be a partner in the infrastructure advisory group. Roper takes up a partner role in the tax and legal division, where he will focus on assisting multinational businesses with setting up transfer pricing policies and handling tax authority disputes. He is also the national lead for quality in transfer pricing arrangements.

Pinsent Masons has announced that Laura Cameron will succeed John Cleland as the firm’s managing partner with effect from 1 May 2023. During her 28 years at the firm Cameron has had significant influence in shaping the business via leadership roles on the firm’s global board and subsequently as global head of the firm’s risk advisory services group. As Pinsent Masons’ first female board member, Cameron is an ambassador for gender parity in management positions. She has been instrumental in the development of a range of the firm’s professional services offerings including forensic accounting services, tax professionals and policy advisers.

HW Fisher has promoted Tamara Howe and Sam Dewes to director roles at the firm. Howe has been appointed director of financial crime prevention. With more than 15 years’ experience, she is a specialist in anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, and anti-facilitation of tax evasion. She advises clients on a number of areas including risk assessments, measuring the robustness of new and existing policies and procedures, and developing in-house client onboarding systems. Dewes has also been promoted to director in the private client department. He advises UK and international high net worth individuals, corporates and trusts on a range of tax matters including moving in/out of the UK, succession planning, land and property issues, investments into UK businesses, and tax filing obligations.

Greaves West & Ayre (GWA) has promoted Christiaan Hansen to associate. He is a chartered accountant, chartered tax adviser and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He has over six years of experience at a senior level and joined the firm in February 2022 from Scholes CA where he was an associate director. He is based mainly at the Berwick-upon-Tweed office, and will use his significant experience in tax and general practice to support the firm’s 13 partners.

Andrew Jackson Solicitors LLP has announced that tax partner, Fiona Phillips, has been appointed as a member of HMRC’s General Anti-Abuse Rule (GAAR) independent advisory panel. She will undertake the unpaid appointment for a three-year period alongside her role at the firm. Phillips is a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser with over 30 years’ experience advising and guiding private and public companies through all aspects of their corporate tax affairs. She has a special interest in advising property clients on stamp duty land tax (SDLT) and VAT.

Bauer Media Audio has hired Lucy Thomas joins as chief financial & operating officer. In this role, she will drive the transformation of Bauer Media Group's Audio business. Thomas, who will join Bauer on 1 May 2023, is a highly experienced media, finance and data specialist. She has been with Sky since 2000 progressing through a range of commercial finance director and MD roles before she became group chief data officer in 2019. She originally trained as an accountant at Arthur Andersen.
