The latest career moves across the accounting profession see senior manager promotions at Price Bailey, partner hires at Grant Thornton and a specialist payroll appointment at RSM

Price Bailey has expanded its corporate management team with the promotion of Maria Marsh, Shaun Jordan, Simon Lloyd and Suzanne Goldsmith to senior manager. Marsh joined the Norwich corporate team from PwC in February 2015. Jordan has been at the firm for 10 years and trained at Price Baile. Since qualifying in 2013 has progressed his career within the Cambridge corporate team and practice wide. Lloyd is an integral part of the corporate team with experience managing a large and complex portfolio including the firm’s SRA portfolio. The firm has also promoted Suzanne Goldsmith, who is a specialist in not for profit and charities.
Lewes-based accountancy and business advisory firm Knill James has appointed George Clayson as associate director in its business advisory and corporate finance group. He joins Knill James following 18 years at Mazars. He has over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance and due diligence, and specialises in providing strategic and business advice to start-ups and growing companies.
Grant Thornton UK LLP has expanded its retail sector expertise, with the addition of two senior hires. Wendy Russell FCA, partner in the firm’s audit practice, joins the firm’s Milton Keynes office. Bringing over 17 years’ experience across audit, assurance and finance transformation, she has worked with a number of publicly listed and private companies in the retail sector and joins from PwC, where she a director. Nicola Sartori FCA has also joined the firm as head of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), retail and consumer brands team. Based in the firm’s London offices, she will lead the national M&A team focused on the retail and consumer brands sectors, bringing over 16 years’ experience advising on high profile transactions. She joins from BDO where she was head of M&A retail and consumer, and has also spent time in industry, including a secondment as group finance director with Aurora Fashions.
Sayer Vincent has appointed experienced VAT specialist, Gloria Monday to the new role of VAT manager. She is a qualified lawyer and will be advising clients on all VAT related matters. She began her career at HMRC, where she worked for 17 years, firstly training as a VAT inspector, before becoming a charity VAT inspector, charity policy adviser and a VAT tribunal litigator. After leaving HMRC, Gloria worked at KMPG for four years as a VAT knowledge manager and later at Price Bailey LLP as a VAT specialist.
Luton based chartered accountants, Foxley Kingham, has announced that Chris Howe, director, has retired after 30 years with the firm. He will be replaced by Zeeshan Hussain, who is named as director of medical services at the firm. Hussain has worked at the firm for 15 years as a specialist medical manager.
RSM has appointed Michael McAllister as regional head of payroll outsourcing in Scotland and Northern Ireland. In the newly-created role, McAllister will lead RSM’s payroll services offering at its Grangemouth and Belfast offices – supporting the wider practice of seven payroll centre across the UK. He has more than a decade’s experience, including roles at Mazars, Scott-Moncrieff and RSM Tenon.
James Roach, finance director and partner at Woodrow Mercer Finance has been appointed as managing partner of the 22-strong firm. In his new role, he will lead the national finance search and selection consultancy that has its head office in Leeds, with predecessor Neil Muffitt becoming chairman.
