KPMG has appointed Marc Abrams to run its East Midlands practice as senior partner of its Leicester and Nottingham offices. He takes over from Ian Borley, who is stepping down from the role ahead of retirement in April after nearly 35 years with the firm. Abrams has been with KPMG for 11 years and is responsible for the leading the firm’s tax practice in the East Midlands. He has advised on some of the region’s highest profile transactions in recent years and worked with a range of businesses from privately owned to listed, his advice covering both company and shareholders’ taxes.
Deloitte has appointed Sankar Mahalingham as a director in its UK pensions business. He will be based in London, specialising in pensions advice to corporates and trustees, and focusing on the expansion of Deloitte’s pensions consulting activity. He previously spent four years at XPS Pensions Group, most recently as head of defined benefit growth. He has over 20 years’ experience advising both corporates and trustees in managing pension scheme risks.
Mark Denney has been appointed as interim chief digital and information officer at HMRC. He is a senior change and IT executive with broad experience in digital transformation, payments infrastructure, technology and strategic change. He replaces Jacky Wright who stepped down in September after two years at HMRC. She has returned to Microsoft as corporate vice president.
Leanne Revie FCCA has re-joined Northampton based accountancy firm CFW as a senior accountant, having trained ta the firm after leaving college. Previously she spent five years at Elsby & Co Chartered Accountants, most recently as a senior manager. Prior to that she ran her own Corby practice for four years, working with a range of SMEs in Corby and Kettering.
Sackers & Partners LLP has hired Caroline Marshall and Joseph Wood as associates. Marshall joins the specialist litigation team and will advise trustees and employers on all types of dispute from member complaints to high court litigation. She trained and qualified at law firm Pinsent Masons. Wood joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he qualified earlier this year. He will advise trustees and employers on a range of defined benefit and defined contribution pension issues.
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has added to its trusts and private wealth practice in the Cayman Islands with the employment of counsel Chris Duncan. His role is providing legal services in relation to trusts and private wealth. Duncan joins from legal services provider Mourant Ozannes.
Publisher Centaur Media has hired Simon Longfield as chief financial officer. Previously he spent 10 years at CFO of BMI Research. Prior to this, he was CFO of Newfound, an AIM-listed property and leisure group. He began his career at PwC where he qualified as a chartered accountant.
Dechra Pharmaceuticals has confirmed acting CFO Paul Sandland as an executive director and permanent CFO. He joined Dechra in 2010 as group financial controller. He trained as a chartered certified accountant with KPMG qualifying in 2005 and spent five years as audit manager at the Big Four firm. Previously he spent eight years at Bentley Jennison as an accountant.
Healthcare company Concepta has appointed Madeleine Kennedy FCCA as CFO and director. She previously acted as interim CFO for Ieso Digital Health and PsiOxus Therapeutics, was CFO for Lab21 and finance director at Alliance Pharma plc.
Enterprise software provider Unit4 has appointed Billy O’Riordan as senior vice president, professional services, working in the customer management team with global clients. He previously worked for Nasdaq provider Brightcove, a listed cloud services company. Frank Dorrien has been appointed as the regional portfolio solutions director for North America, and most recently worked as vp of global services & customer success at Actifio. Francis Quinn has also been hired as a project governance leader North America, formerly Francis was the executive program director at Iowa State University.
