In this week’s accountancy career moves, chairman for Dains, partner promotions and senior hires at Azets, Evelyn Partners and Cowgills, plus insolvency expertise strengthened at RBK
Dains Accountants has appointed Neil Cox as chairman in a move which demonstrates Dains’ ambition to consolidate the fragmented UK accountancy market. Cox is a buy and build expert and joins Dains following a career in private equity, supporting businesses across a wide range of sectors including commercial insurance, regulatory compliance, and veterinary services.
Azets has appointed David Saunders, Ben Sheldon and Francesca Hutcheson as partners. Saunders joined the firm in 2017 as client manager before being promoted to associate director, and will now be a partner in the Walsall office. Sheldon joined the firm in 2019 from PwC as an audit director. Hutcheson will be a partner in the tax advisory team and was previously a tax director at Dyke Yaxley.
KPMG UK has appointed Thomas Lodge as a partner in its capital markets practice and will help grow the capital markets transformation practice. He has over 25 years’ financial markets experience in investment banking and consultancy across trading, change management, derivatives clearing, and finance. He joins KPMG from Apatura Consulting, a specialist consultancy which he founded to provide front to back advisory and implementation services to financial markets clients.
Claritas Tax, the independent tax advisory firm with offices in Birmingham, Manchester and London, has promoted Alex Hall to associate partner. The promotion forms part of the growth strategy and reflects the firm’s commitment to professional development and career progression.
Evelyn Partners has appointed Kjersti Wiklund as an independent non-executive director. She will bring a wealth of technology and business experience to the board. She is currently a non-executive director of Babcock International Group plc, financial services group Nordea and UK listed firms Spectris plc and Zegona Communications plc.
Cowgills has appointed James Marshall as deal origination director, to support the firm’s rapidly growing corporate finance team. Marshall, who joins from BGF Private Equity and was also formerly with Clearwater International, will be based out of Cowgills Manchester office in Spinningfields. He will be working closely with the corporate finance team and under deal origination partner, Rob Lord.
RBK Chartered Accountants has confirmed that senior manager Louise Guinan has earned a practising certificate from ACCA Ireland, confirming her eligibility to take appointments as an insolvency practitioner. Guinan works in the firm’s restructuring and insolvency department.
Accountancy practice recruitment firm, Barber McLelland has joined South Yorkshire accountancy and advisory firm, Brearley & Co as a recruitment partner to support the firm with their future recruitment, actively working with the firm’s partners and managers to help identify future key hires.
