In this week’s accountancy career moves, CABA names new president, CEO and chairman changes at Iris Software, TaxAssist franchisees anmed, Carey Olsen expands HK legal team, and cloud accountant for Watson Buckle

CABA, the wellbeing charity for accountants and their families, has announced the appointment of Kaaeed Mamujee FCA as president. With over 27 years’ experience as a chartered accountant, Mamujee has been a CABA trustee for five years. His background includes periods working as a financial controller for large multinational companies such as United Biscuits and Calor Gas, to acting as non-executive director and chair of the audit committee for the NHS Leicestershire County & Rutland Primary Care Trust.

Iris Software Group has named Elona Mortimer-Zhika as CEO, effective from 1 September 2019. She succeeds Kevin Dady who has been promoted to the role of executive chairman. Mortimer-Zhika joined the software develop in 2016 as chief financial officer and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2018, responsible for a wide range of functions including revenue generation, customer service, IT and M&A integration.

Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has added Bermuda law capabilities to its Hong Kong office with the relocation of Bermudians Henry Tucker and Kyle Masters. Tucker has more than 10 years' experience before the Commercial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal in Bermuda and advises on all aspects of offshore commercial and trust litigation with a specific focus on arbitration, enforcement and insolvency issues. Masters has extensive experience in regulatory and compliance law, internal and external risk mitigation, corporate governance and enforcement actions.

Five new franchisees have recently completed their initial training and begun trading as TaxAssist Accountants. Mark Gibbs (Southend on Sea), Martin Murray (Swinton), Salmaan Shaikh (Surbiton) and Prav Tyagi (Manchester South), along with Declan Browne (Newbridge, County Kildare) are the latest franchisees to become part of the TaxAssist Accountants network in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Bradford-based accountancy firm Watson Buckle has hired Carl Booth as a cloud accountant, focused on delivering the firm’s online accountancy services and solutions to clients, including WB Connect. He has previous experience in both practice and industry, most recently at Northern Powerhouse Developments. Alongside his day job, Booth will continue to study for ACCA qualifications.
