People in the news: Blick, RSM, KPMG

In this week’s accountancy career moves, CEO appointed at Blick Rothenberg, partner promotion at RSM and EY, and KPMG names their global head of tax and legal services

This staff announcement series was paused due to Covid-19, but as the public returns to work, Accountancy Daily kick starts People in the news.

Below are some of the most recent appointments:

Nimesh Shah has been promoted to from partner to CEO at Blick Rothenberg. Shah takes over from the current CEO, Nilesh Shah (no relation), who is leaving the company to take up an advisory role with Blick Rothenberg’s parent company Cogital Group.

EY has made two hires in its Scottish based tax team, Moray Barber joins as a tax partner who will primarily serve the energy sector, Barber was previously a partner at KPMG. Duncan Reoch also joins as an associate partner to lead the Scotland private client team within EY’s private practice, Reoch was formerly a tax director at Deloitte.

KPMG has appointed David Linke as the firm’s global head of tax and legal services. Linke will be promoted from his current role as regional tax leader of Asia Pacific and will succeed Jane McCormick on 1 October, who has led the firm’s global tax and legal department since 2016. Chris Townsed OBE also joins KPMG as head of infrastructure, government and healthcare. Townsend formerly undertook a voluntary role as CEO for the Covid-19 Shielding Programme.

RSM has hired Katie Morrison as a partner in their audit team. Morrison joins from KPMG where she worked as an audit director.

PwC has appointed Gavin Phillips as financial services leader for the UK regions. Phillips is currently the interim senior partner for PwC’s Gatwick office.

Justin Holliday, HMRC’s chief finance officer (CFO), has been named as tax assurance commissioner, replacing Melissa Tatton who is moving to Ofcom from September.

Curve, a banking platform, hires Scott Weller as its first CFO. Weller was formerly the finance director at PayPal.
