In this week’s moves and appointments roundup, BDO fills its newly created head of growth advisory position, Menzies appoints two specialists in its Leatherhead office, JW Hinks appoints a pensions audit senior

Paul Morris joins BDO as head of growth advisory from private equity firm Livingbridge where he was a partner. In this newly created role, Morris will be advising ambitious UK businesses on growth opportunities with private equity investment. His experience in guiding mid-sized businesses through every stage of the private equity life cycle spans multiple sectors, in particular services and technology and media. 

Menzies has appointed two specialists, David Boyce and Chris Gillman, in its Leatherhead office. Having previously worked at BDO, Boyce has over 30 years of tax experience, specialising in income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning. Gillman is a qualified accountant and trust and estate practitioner, specialising in trust tax and advisory work. He advises non-UK domiciliaries in relation to their tax planning and wealth structuring needs and formerly worked at wealth management company Stonehage Fleming.

Edgbaston-based JW Hinks has appointed Harvir Grewal as a pensions audit senior. Grewal has extensive experience of dealing with medium and large occupational pension schemes.

DSR tax claims has appointed Charlotte Hammond in its compliance team. She joins after graduating from the University of Derby with a degree in law with criminality.

Carey Olsen senior associate James Stockwell has been admitted as an advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey. Stockwell, who is a member of the firm's corporate and finance practice, has successfully completed the Guernsey Bar exams and the Certificat d’Études Juridiques Françaises et Normandes at the University of Caen.

FreeAgent Holdings, a provider accounting software solutions and mobile applications designed specifically for UK micro-businesses, has appointed Nick Longden as vice president of sales to help spearhead its growth strategy within its Accounting Practice Division. His appointment at FreeAgent comes after a two-decade long career in the accounting software industry, where he has worked for major companies including Sage, Xero, CCH and Pegasus.

Tim Christen CPA, CGMA, former chairman of the American Institute of CPAs, has been named to the board of directors of Christen is currently chairman of Baker Tilly International and formerly CEO of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP. As chair of the AICPA, Christen championed innovation and rapid technology adoption. He also played a key role in securing membership approval for the formation of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
