Jeremy Newman, the managing partner of BDO Stoy Hayward, will take over as CEO of BDO International next October, succeeding Frans Samyn who has held the post since 2002.
But Newman, 48, has said that he has no plans to take a step back from the ongoing debate surrounding the domination of the Big Four in the large audit market.
'I am not going to be stepping out of the debate,' he said. 'I wouldn't want people to breathe a sigh of relief and think: "We're going to get rid of him now."'
Newman, who will stay on in his present role until next September, said he was 'very proud' to have served as managing partner. 'The growth and success of the UK firm will continue to be my number one priority until I stand down,' he added.
BDO Stoy Hayward will hold an election to pick Newman's successor in the spring.
