KPMG launches black leaders’ business network

KPMG has launched the KPMG Black Leaders’ Network to improve representation of black employees across all spheres of business, including professional services firms, particularly at senior levels of management

The Black Leaders’ Network, which currently comprises of approximately fifty members, aims to provide an opportunity for members to meet and learn from other leaders who represent a diverse mix of businesses, roles and backgrounds.

It will provide connections with which to test ideas, seek input and feedback, and provide mutual support, and will offer members the opportunity to hear about topics and speakers that stimulate and provoke discussion.

Once fully established, a primary area of focus will be to support high performing black colleagues in more junior positions to progress into leadership by providing mentoring, role models and counsel from the BLN members, with a strategic business focus.

Richard Iferenta, KPMG partner and Black Leaders’ Network chair, said: ‘I believe it is a real business imperative to ensure all talented individuals are able to have access to like-minded peers across the UK business landscape in order to build relationships, knowledge share, and discuss issues which are unique to their personal backgrounds which is why I’ve created this network.

‘At KPMG supporting an inclusive and diverse culture is a priority in order to meet our client needs and attract the best talent. But just attracting the best talent is not enough. We want to ensure we can retain and progress these individuals to ensure the future of our organisation remains competitive.

‘Therefore nurturing and growing a network of black business leaders who are able to be role models and mentors for the next generation is key to making truly diverse leadership groups a reality.’
