Kearns is based in the corporate division in London. She advises clients on accounting and auditing issues, including narrative reporting and governance, and provides advice to Herbert Smith Freehills across its international office network. Kearns also identifies new or potential risk areas for clients to ensure they are aware of important developments in the accounting and auditing environment.

Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Kathryn worked for the Accounting Standards Board. She has also previously chaired HM Treasury's Financial Reporting Advisory Board as well as the ICAEW's Financial Reporting Committee. Kearns is also a , Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and was a member of the CBI's Corporate Governance Forum as well as the ICAEW's Technical Advisory Board.
