Jonathan Riley FCA is head of tax at Grant Thornton UK LLP, based in the Leeds office where he is also senior partner. He was previously senior partner at the firm’s Cambridge and Milton Keynes office. He started his career as an inspector of taxes at HMRC, followed by a two-year secondment to the Department of Trade and Industry as tax policy adviser.

He has more than 30 years' experience advising on a range of tax matters, gained from working in varying roles across the UK. He works with dynamic organisations and people on a daily basis, whether entrepreneurial businesses, high net worth individuals or corporates, or with colleagues across the UK and the globe. One of his primary areas of interest is working with government ministers, opposition parties and within Whitehall to ensure that the voice of clients is heard, particularly in terms of business growth and opportunities.
