The IFRS Foundation Education Initiative has published Framework-based teaching material designed to help educators train the next generation of accountants in how to make sound judgements in the preparation of financial reports in accordance with principle-based accounting standards.
The material free to download and available in all Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish and Portuguese.
Training is conducted in the form of regional multi-day IFRS teaching workshops. Most of the sessions are hosted jointly with development agency financial reporting capacity building projects. Shorter workshops are arranged at major international and regional academic accounting conferences.
Commenting on the increased support for those teaching IFRS chairman Hans Hoogervorst said that supporting IFRS teachers to develop their students' ability to make the judgements and estimates on which IFRS financial reports are based is an important part of our commitment to improving the consistency with which IFRS is applied.
'Working with the World Bank and others, our Education Initiative is now training IFRS teachers in Framework-based teaching techniques using material that is translated into all of the world's most widely spoken languages. This collective effort should bring great benefits to the global financial reporting community,' said Hoogevorst.
