Duff & Phelps called in at £500 a night Cotswolds hotel

A top Cheltenham hotel that charges £40 a head for afternoon tea has called in the administrators.

Matt Bond and Ben Wiles of Duff & Phelps have been appointed as joint administrators of HTLP Limited t/a The Hotel.

The 12-room boutique hotel had already been placed on the market for a number of months prior to Duff & Phelps appointment.

The best rooms in the 1830s hotel currently cost £495, while a full English breakfast is part of the deal.

The administrators were appointed as the company has experienced a downturn in trading performance due to the current economic climate, which hit cash flow.

Bond said: 'We will continue to trade the hotel on a "business as usual" basis while seeking a buyer for the hotel which remains open and looking forward to a busy festival week.'
