Distribution company drives into administration
Howard Smith and David Costley-Wood from KPMG’s restructuring practice have been appointed as joint administrators to warehousing and distribution company RPL Transport Ltd, which has collapsed after experiencing cashflow difficulties
23 Apr 2019
Founded in 1984, the Milton Keynes-based business employed 30 people and provided logistics management, delivery and warehousing services to its clients across a range of sectors, including publishing, food and drink and building supplies.
Following the appointment, 25 staff were made redundant, while the remaining staff have been retained in the short term to assist the administrators with winding down operations.
The appointment follows the administration of Bedfords Ltd, including its supply chain services arm LinQ, on 27 March 2019. RPL Transport is part of Bedfords Group.
Howard Smith, associate partner at KPMG and joint administrator, said: ‘RPL Transport has faced similar challenges to the wider Bedfords business, including significant cashflow pressure, which increased significantly since the administrations of Bedfords and LinQ. Without any further investment, the decision was made by the directors to appoint administrators and, regrettably, cease operations.’
