CIOT provides update on HMRC CEST services

The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) has published guidance received from HMRC about the support their Customer Engagement and Support Team (CEST) can offer mid-sized businesses.

HMRC have confirmed that any agent with a Government Gateway ID, regardless of the size of the agent, can access the system using their own Government Gateway ID and seek support from the CEST team for a mid-sized business client by entering their client’s UTR and other details once inside the system, provided their query does not relate to one for which there is already another dedicated team within HMRC that they can contact.
