The Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) and nine other stakeholders have issued a joint statement welcoming the European Commission’s initiative to improve the regulatory framework on corporate governance.
The stakeholders state that the Commission’s initiative will be critical to ensuring that environmental and social risks, as well as associated opportunities and impacts, are better considered by Boards and senior management.
The joint statement contains matters that the reform should address, including:
•Board oversight of environmental, social and governance issues;
•role of Boards over corporate sustainability strategy; and
•sustainability-related incentives and long-term perspectives.
