The Treasury Committee has published a report entitled Net Zero and the Future of Green Finance, which forms part of its decarbonisation and green finance inquiry.
The Committee has made a series of recommendations in the report for how the government can achieve net-zero by 2050, including:
•Financial products should have climate impact labels;
•Greenwashing of financial products must be prevented;
•FCA should further encourage FinTech innovation and tackle regulatory barriers;
•Government should set out cost of achieving net-zero by 2050; and
•Strategy needed to support regions and sectors impacted by decarbonisation.
