CIOT responds to consultation on employee health issues
Released 07 October 2019
The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) has responded to the government’s consultation on a package of measures aimed at helping employers to help employees with health-related conditions and reduce ill health-related job loss.
The Institute’s response to the consultation solely concerns the UK’s tax system, namely:
•the exemptions and reliefs from income tax in relation to employer-provided health-related benefits-in-kind (BIK); and
•the potential use of the PAYE Real Time Information (RTI) reporting process to provide the government with data on sickness absences.
