Companies House regime faces major overhaul

The Government is planning a major overhaul to the working model and approach to Companies House.

The Government has set out its plans for a major overhaul of the Companies House regime, in a bid to increase the transparency in UK business, and in an attempt to reduce economic crime.

The 80-page consultation paper sets out a series of reforms to limit the risk of misuse under four headings of:

increased information about who is setting up, managing an controlling companies;

improving the accuracy and usability of data on the companies register;

protecting personal information on the register; and

ensuring compliance, sharing intelligence and other measures to deter abuse of corporate entities.
