HMRC update guidance on registering for and reporting automatic exchange of information

HMRC have updated guidance for financial institutions on registering and reporting automatic exchange of information.

Register and report Automatic Exchange of Information explains how financial institutions can use HMRC online services to register for and report under the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) service. The AEIO covers agreements made between the UK and other countries to allow the exchange of information about financial accounts and investments to help stop tax evasion. Financial institutions, e.g. banks, building societies, insurance companies and investment companies are required to provide information on non-UK residents with financial accounts and investments in the UK to HMRC who will share this information with the relevant countries. The guidance has been updated to include more details of how to register for and report information.
