HMRC update guidance on obtaining an EORI number
Released 11 March 2019
HMRC have updated guidance on obtaining an EORI number to make it clear what the definition of a UK business is.
Get a UK EORI number to trade within the EU explains that UK businesses may need an EORI number if the UK leaves the EU with no deal. An Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number allows businesses to:
•trade goods into or out of the UK;
•submit declarations using software (or to give to an agent to make these declarations on your behalf);
•apply to be authorised for customs simplifications and procedures.
Those with an EORI number that starts with GB will not need a new one.
