Released 08 March 2019
SI 2019/514 amends Regulation (EU) No. 608/2013 to ensure effective operation as part of UK law post Brexit.
The Customs (Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 make amendments to Regulation (EU) No 608/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 June 2013 concerning customs enforcement of intellectual property rights and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No. 1383/2003. That regulation becomes part of domestic law on exit day by virtue of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, s. 3 of and these regulations ensure that the former continues to operate effectively without deficiency as part of UK law in the event that the UK leaves the EU without a withdrawal agreement. The regulations come into force on Exit day (defined by EUWA 2018, s. 20(1) as 29 March 2019 at 11.00 p.m.).
