HMRC consultation: Tobacco Products (Traceability and Security Features) Regulations 2019

HMRC are seeking views on draft secondary legislation implementing track and trace and security features for tobacco products as required by the Tobacco Products Directive.

The Tobacco Products Directive 2014 and its implementing legislation introduces track and trace, and security features for cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco from 20 May 2019. The Tobacco Products (Traceability and Security Features) Regulations 2019 will implement these changes in the UK. They also enact a series of derogations, essential for defining the scope of the UK scheme. The consultation closes at 11:45pm on 11 March 2019.
