Updated employer checking tools available

HMRC have launched updated versions of their online Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), statutory redundancy pay, and maternity, paternity and adoption pay checking tool for employees.
Broadly, employers will only responsible for paying SSP if they:
•pay Class 1 NICs for the employee (or would do if not for their age or their level of earnings);
•the employee was sick for four or more days in a row (including non-working days);
•the employee has advised that they are sick within the employer’s own time limit (or seven days if the employer does not have a limit).
Redundancy payments are based on age, weekly pay and number of years in the job.
Employees only qualify if they have worked for the employer for at least two full years.
