HMRC update guidance on applications for VAT registration data from HMRC
Released 05 December 2018
HMRC have updated guidance on applications for VAT information by credit reference agencies to reflect that applicants’ security systems must comply with ISO/IEC 27001.
Apply to receive non-financial VAT registration data from HMRC explains how credit reference agencies and other qualifying applicants can apply for VAT registration data for use in making financial assessments. The guidance has been updated at the ‘Who can apply' and ‘Completing the online application questionnaire’ sections to include new IEC 27001 accreditation detail. HMRC will only release information to businesses whose security management systems are accredited to ISO/IEC 27001 standards and certified by an independent accreditation body. The applicant will be asked to confirm accreditation to ISO/IEC 27001 standards as part of the application and give details of any regulatory framework the business operates under, for example, the Financial Conduct Authority or Prudential Regulatory Authority.
