SI 2018/1258 - The Customs Transit Procedures (EU Exit) Regulations 2018
Released 30 November 2018
SI 2018/1258 makes provision for continued operation of import duty suspension procedures post Brexit.
The Customs Transit Procedures (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 make provision for the international movements of goods, with import duty suspended, under the internationally recognised common transit procedure and TIR Carnet system, with provision for such movements within the UK. They also provide for such movements of goods under arrangements for NATO forces. They ensure that these customs procedures operate as before once the UK exits the European Union. The regulations were made on 29 November 2018 and come into force on such day as the Treasury may by regulations appoint.
