Lords Economic Affairs Finance Bill Sub-Committee publishes correspondence with HMRC
Released 6 November 2018
The House of Lords Economic Affairs Finance Bill Sub-Committee has published correspondence with HMRC relating to its Draft Finance Bill 2018 inquiry.
The Sub-Committed has published a letter from HMRC dated 31 October 2018 which provides the Sub-Committee with further information on Making Tax Digital for Business and Customer compliance relating to settlements of disguised remuneration loan schemes and penalties in relation to ‘follower notices’. The Sub-Committee has also published its response dated 1 November 2018, in which the Sub-Committee notes that a number of its questions remain without a satisfactory answer. In particular, the Sub-Committee requests an answer to its question whether any current or former HMRC contractors have used disguised remuneration schemes and for the requested segmentation data on administrative burdens and benefits to business of Making Tax Digital.
