Finance Bill 2018-19 published

The Finance Bill 2018-19 has been published and introduced to Parliament – explanatory notes have also been published.

The Finance Bill 2018-19, also known as Finance (No.3) Bill 2017-19 because it is the third Finance Bill of the current Parliamentary session (2017 to 2019), is a bill to grant certain duties, to alter other duties, and to amend the law relating to the national debt and the public revenue, and to make further provision in connection with finance. The Bill imposes annual taxes for the 2019-20 tax year, delivers new tax proposals and maintains administration of the tax system.

The first reading of the Bill in the House of Commons took place on 1 November 2018 at which the Bill was ordered to be printed. The Bill was then published in full on 6 November 2018. The next stage is the second reading which is the first opportunity for Members of Parliament to debate the Bill. The second reading is scheduled for 12 November 2018.
