Released 9 October 2018
The Economic Affairs Finance Bill Sub-Committee will hear evidence from a panel of accountancy and taxation bodies on Finance Bill 2018 on 10 October 2018.
The Economic Affairs Finance Bill Sub-Committee is conducting a Draft Finance Bill 2018 inquiry examining developments in the balance of powers and safeguards between HMRC and the taxpayer. The Sub-Committee is also examining progress on the 'Making Tax Digital' programme. The Sub-Committee is due to hear evidence from a panel of accountancy and taxation bodies on Wednesday 10 October 2018. Questions are likely to include:
•How concerning is the development of HMRC powers over the last few years?
•How can tax avoidance be tackled effectively without undermining safeguards for taxpayers?
•Are businesses, HMRC and software companies ready for the full introduction of Making Tax Digital for VAT in April 2019?
•What further evidence is emerging, as businesses prepare for April 2019, of the costs and benefits of mandatory digitalisation?
