HMRC National Insurance contributions and statutory payments toolkit

HMRC have updated their agent toolkit for National Insurance contributions and statutory payments for the 2017-18 tax year.

HMRC National Insurance contributions and statutory payments toolkit provides guidance for tax agents and advisers on National Insurance contributions and statutory payments in tax returns. The toolkit is aimed at helping and supporting tax agents and advisers who operate payroll functions for National Insurance contributions (NICs) and statutory payments on behalf of their clients and for completing employers' end of year forms. It may also be of use to tax agents and advisors who do not operate payroll functions or complete their clients' end of year employer forms but who wish to use the toolkit as a source of reference when advising their clients on NICs and statutory payment matters. It may also be helpful to employers or anyone operating payroll functions. It provides guidance on the NICs and statutory payments errors that commonly occur, and the steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of those errors.
