Azets acquires Moore South’s restructuring team

Top 10 accounting firm Azets has acquired the restructuring and insolvency division of Moore South, bringing across a number staff and partners

The new team of four acquired by Azets, headed by two partners, consists of licenced insolvency practitioners and restructuring specialists covering southern England and specialises in restructuring and rescue options and offers specialist advisory services to help companies make effective and more strategic business decisions.

The duo heading the team are Duncan Swift and Chris Tate who both have an extensive track record and reputation in the industry and in the Solent area.

Swift is a nationally recognised industry expert and spokesperson in the agricultural, food manufacturing and food processing sectors and is now also a partner at Azets. He said: ‘This is an exciting step in the development of our business. We advise on all stages and aspects of corporate financial distress for business owners and directors and we believe strongly, as does Azets, in providing a personal approach to supporting the needs of our clients in the region, while being part of an international group.’

This latest strategic acquisition includes the team’s current clients that encompass a range of different sectors including food and agriculture, hotels, healthcare, property and engineering. This asset adds to Azet’s already well-established offices in the region.

It will also enhance the company’s restructuring and insolvency capabilities creating a significant one-stop shop serving businesses and individuals across the Solent region.

Colin Haig, head of restructuring and insolvency at Azets said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Duncan, Chris and their team to Azets.  The team’s excellent local reputation and expertise combined with Azets’ local and international presence demonstrates our commitment to the Solent region.

‘This latest move is a good example of how our M&A strategy underpins our overall organic growth plan at Azets and we hope to announce more strategic acquisitions this year as we continue to build our brand in the UK.’

Azets was ranked ninth in Accountancy Daily’s Annual Top 75 Firms Survey 2020 with a revenue of £270m far exceeding the previous year by 20% from £225m in 2019. In March 2021, Azets announced the acquisition of Roffe Swayne, an accountancy and tax advisory firm based in Godalming, Surrey.
