One of Scotland's oldest jewellers has gone into liquidation with the loss of around 80 jobs in 14 branches throughout the country.
Brian Milne, partner in the business recovery and insolvency division at French Duncan, has been appointed as provisional liquidator of Ketling Ltd, the business that since last October traded as Henderson the Jeweller.
Henderson was established in Coatbridge in 1886 and Milne said it was 'particularly regrettable' that the company had gone into liquidation, given its long history.
'Following my appointment, I have initiated a thorough assessment of the circumstances leading up to the liquidation, though it would seem that Henderson has fallen victim to the challenging trading conditions that the economic downturn has imposed on many retailers over recent years,' Milne said.
